Description

This lot comprises an interactive hardcover history book entitled War on the Home Front: Experience Life in Britain During the Second World War, authored by Juliet Gardiner and published by Carlton in association with the Imperial War Museum. Presented in a large-format portfolio style with pictorial boards, the volume is designed as an immersive historical resource. It contains over 30 removable facsimile documents and pieces of memorabilia, including items such as a ration book, propaganda leaflets, wartime maps, and Alan Turing’s notes on the Enigma machine. Also included is an audio CD titled We Fought on the Home Front, which features dramatic first-hand accounts from the era. The cover art displays a montage of wartime personnel including a soldier, an ARP warden, a Land Girl, and civilians against a London Blitz backdrop. The reverse of the volume provides a detailed list of the included facsimiles and a biography of the author, a prominent historian and former editor of History Today.

Condition report:

The pictorial boards show signs of moderate shelf wear, including scuffing and rubbing to the surfaces. There is visible bumping and wear to the corners and edges of the spine. The printed graphic on the front cover includes a trompe l\'oeil peeling effect as part of the design, which should not be confused with physical damage. Internally, the components appear to be present, though they have not been individually collated for this report. The audio CD is present in its housing.
