A Victorian Style Cast Iron and Timber Garden Table
Description
A Victorian style rectangular garden table constructed with a cast iron base and a mixed material top. The tabletop consists of a central cast iron panel featuring a pierced lattice-work design and a circular aperture for a parasol, inset within a wide timber border frame. The table is supported by a decorative cast iron base finished in verdigris green paint. The end supports are composed of scrolled legs joined by a cross-stretcher with a central heart-shaped motif. The side aprons are embellished with a repeating cast scroll and wave pattern. No maker’s marks or foundry stamps are visible.
Condition report:
The table is in a heavily weathered condition throughout. The timber outer frame shows significant signs of decay, paint loss, and silvering from exposure. The cast iron lattice top and base exhibit extensive paint flaking and surface oxidisation. This item is suitable as a restoration project.
