Lot 324:
Hand Painted Soapstone Elephant Coaster Set with Holder - Very Good Condition
Sold for: £2
Description
This lot comprises a set of six circular coasters and a coordinating U-shaped holder, all crafted from natural reddish-brown mottled soapstone. Each coaster features a central hand-painted motif of a caparisoned elephant in black, decorated with traditional patterns in green, red, yellow, and white, finished with white dot-work detailing. The matching stone holder is decorated with two similar elephant figures on the front face. The set exhibits the characteristic texture and surface variations associated with hand-carved soapstone and manual enamel application.
Condition report:
The set is in very good condition. The painted motifs remain largely intact with only minor surface wear consistent with light use.
