An oil on board marine painting depicting the three-masted tea clipper Lahloo navigating a turbulent sea. The work features pronounced impasto highlights in the white-capped waves against a pale, cloudy sky. The vessel is shown in full sail, rendered with technical detail. The painting is housed in a wide, ornate gilded frame with a repeating geometric loop border. partially enclosed by a stylized flourish. The work is titled Up Channel – The Lahloo and depicts the vessel built in 1867 by Robert Steele & Company, which was 191 feet in length with a registered tonnage of 779 tons.
