A Trio of Sterling Silver Mounted Cut Glass Dressing Table Items by S. Blanckensee & Son Ltd, London 1915
Description
A trio of George V sterling silver mounted cut glass dressing table items comprising one globular scent bottle and two cylindrical jars. Each piece is crafted from cut glass featuring deep diamond and hobnail patterns. The scent bottle is fitted with a hinged silver lid embossed with foliate scrolls and floral motifs, centering a circular cartouche engraved with a cursive monogram. The two cylindrical jars are fitted with pull-off silver caps, one tiered and domed and the other with a flatter profile. The silver mounts are struck with the makers mark S.B & Co for S. Blanckensee & Son Ltd, alongside the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard’s head for the London assay office, and the date letter u for 1915.
Condition report:
The silver mounts exhibit significant surface tarnish and oxidation. There are visible minor dents and surface wear to the silver consistent with age and use. The glass bodies show light surface scratching and typical minor flea-bite nicks to the sharp edges of the cut patterns. No significant chips or internal clouding are visible.
