UK 1986 XIII Commonwealth Games Commemorative Two Pound Coin
Description
United Kingdom commemorative two pound coin struck in nickel-brass to mark the XIII Commonwealth Games held in Edinburgh. The obverse features the Raphael Maklouf third portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with the legend ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA F D TWO POUNDS. The reverse features a Scottish thistle on a saltire within a laurel wreath, dated 1986. The edge is inscribed with the incuse text XIII COMMONWEALTH GAMES 1986. This issue represents the first commemorative two pound coin struck for circulation in the UK.
Condition report:
Circulated. Surface wear is evident on the relief, particularly on the high points of the monarch\'s portrait and the reverse thistle design. Light scratches and handling marks are visible across both faces. Dark toning and accumulated surface residue are present within the recessed lettering and edge inscription.
