WWI New Zealand 33rd Reinforcements NZEF Brass Cap Badge
Description
A First World War period die-struck brass cap badge for the 33rd Reinforcements of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force (NZEF), dating to circa 1917–1918. The design consists of a circular laurel wreath surmounted by a King’s (Tudor) Crown. The centre features a voided area containing four shields in a cruciform arrangement. The top shield is embossed with the letter N, the bottom shield with the letter Z, and the left and right shields are each embossed with the number 3, representing the 33rd New Zealand Reinforcements. The reverse is hollow-struck and is fitted with a single, wide, flat brass fold-over attachment slider.
Condition report:
The badge is in good original condition, displaying a natural aged brass patina. There are minor signs of wear and small spots of verdigris, particularly around the recessed areas and on the reverse. The mounting slider remains intact and functional.
