Wade England Whimsical Teapots Feline Collection Judith Wootton Cats on Armchair Teapot
Description
A ceramic novelty teapot from the Whimsical Teapots Feline Collection, manufactured by Wade, England, and designed by Judith Wootton. The vessel is moulded in the form of a floral-upholstered armchair. The design incorporates two black and white tuxedo cats; the lid features the head and paws of one cat appearing over the top of the chair back, while the front of the teapot depicts a second cat peeking out from behind a blue and yellow ruffled cushion. The cream-coloured ground is decorated with scattered multi-coloured floral sprigs and yellow dot accents. The piece features a curved handle and a short spout. The base is marked with a black transfer reading Whimsical Teapots-, FELINE COLLECTION, designed by Judith Wootton, WADE ENGLAND, and includes a small hand-painted numeral 8 in red.
Condition report:
The teapot displays fine all-over crazing to the glaze, which is typical for earthenware of this type. There is minor shelf wear and light staining to the unglazed foot rim. No chips, cracks, or repairs are visible.
