Lot 160:
Antique Boots The Chemists Boat-Shaped Glass Baby Feeding Bottle
Description
This is an antique press-moulded clear glass baby feeding bottle of the boat-shaped or banana variety. It was produced for the British pharmacy chain Boots The Chemists during the late 19th or early 20th century. The bottle features a double-ended design with openings at both ends and a flattened base on one side to keep the vessel stable when placed on a flat surface. One side is embossed with the Boots logo in script. The opposite side features a graduated scale with markers and the word OUNCES embossed in the glass. The piece shows visible longitudinal mould seams consistent with its construction method. This style of hygienic feeder was designed to be more easily cleaned than earlier models.
Condition report:
The item remains in good antique condition with no cracks or large chips observed on the body or the flared rims. The glass exhibits some internal residue and surface clouding from previous use and age, along with minor surface scratches.
