Description
The lot comprises two vintage trade card collector albums published by Brooke Bond Oxo Ltd. The first album is titled Famous People 1869-1969 and features biographical entries for fifty historical British figures. The cover is illustrated by Angus McBride with text descriptions by Virginia Shankland. Internal pages contain partially complete sets of colour-printed cards including portraits of H.G. Wells, Robert Falcon Scott, and Winston Churchill.
The second album focuses on the history of fashion and costume, detailing British dress through the ages. It includes thematic pages with mounted cards and supplemental monochrome line drawings of period accessories such as gloves, shoes, and headwear. The interior features a comprehensive index on page three. Both albums are constructed from printed card and paper, originally priced at 6d. Several card slots remain empty in both volumes.
Condition report:
Both albums are in used condition with visible handling wear, corner creasing, adhesive staining, and significant yellowing to the paper.
