Lot 320:
Three Tapered Wooden Indian Flatbread Rolling Pins - Vintage
Not sold
Description
This lot comprises three Indian flatbread rolling pins, traditionally known as belan. Each item is constructed from turned wood with a distinctive tapered form, thickening towards the centre and narrowing at the ends. The trio displays a variety of wood tones ranging from a light honey-coloured timber to a dark reddish-brown hardwood. The top pin in the primary photograph features a light finish with simple rounded terminals, while the middle and bottom examples are finished with more decorative acorn-shaped tips. These items are designed for the preparation of traditional flatbreads, providing a balanced weight and ergonomic grip for rolling dough. The construction shows visible wood grain throughout, with the darkest pin exhibiting a more pronounced texture.
Length: Approximately 38 cm
Width at centre: Approximately 3.5 cm.
Condition report:
The items are in used vintage condition.
