Antique 1914 First World War Princess Mary Brass Christmas Gift Box
Description
A First World War British military issue Princess Mary brass gift box, distributed to personnel serving in the Armed Forces on Christmas Day 1914. The rectangular box is constructed from stamped brass and features a double-hinged lid. The lid is decorated in relief with a central profile portrait of Princess Mary within a laurel wreath, flanked by stylized monograms. The embossed border design incorporates the names of the Allied nations France, Russia, Belgium, Japan, Servia, and Montenegro, alongside the inscriptions Imperium Britannicum and Christmas 1914. The decorative composition is finished with military motifs including bayonets and scabbards. The interior of the tin is currently empty.
