Vintage GPO Type 706 Red Rotary Dial Telephone
Description
A vintage GPO (General Post Office) Type 706 rotary dial desk telephone in Post Office Red. The instrument features a red molded ABS plastic casing and handset on a black textured metal base plate. It is equipped with a clear plastic rotary dial and numeric finger wheel. The telephone includes a matching red coiled handset cord and a long, flat grey line cord fitted with a standard UK BT-style plug. A yellow identification label on the base plate is marked TELES 706 F, PO FDI, BATCH SAMPLED, and FWR 79/2. The manufacturer code FWR identifies the Newport, Wales, GPO Factory, and the date code indicates production in the second quarter of 1979. The central dial label is printed with emergency dialling instructions and a Leighton Buzzard exchange number 385403.
