Lot 78:
A Modern Scottish Royal Banner of the Lion Rampant
Description
A contemporary Royal Banner of the Royal Standard of Scotland, commonly referred to as the Lion Rampant. The design depicts a red lion rampant with blue tongue and claws, positioned within a red double tressure flory-counter-flory, all on a yellow field. This banner is historically the personal flag of the Monarch in Scotland. The flag is manufactured from a modern synthetic knitted polyester mesh, often referred to as airmesh, which is designed for durability in outdoor environments. The design is screen-printed. It features a hemmed perimeter and a reinforced hoist sleeve on the left-hand side for attachment to a flagpole. No maker’s labels or country-of-origin tags are visible.
Length: Approximately 180 cm
Height: Approximately 90 cm.
Condition report:
The flag appears to be in good, used condition. The colours remain vibrant with no significant evidence of UV fading or wind-fraying at the fly end. There are some light creases consistent with being folded for storage.
