Description
An assortment of art instructional and reference books, primarily concentrated on botanical illustration and watercolour painting. The group includes several significant hardcover volumes with dust jackets and various softcover editions. Notable works include The Art of Botanical Illustration: A History of the Classic Illustrators and Their Achievements by Lys de Bray; The Art of Botanical Painting and The Botanical Palette by Margaret Stevens, both published in association with The Society of Botanical Artists; and Contemporary Botanical Artists: The Shirley Sherwood Collection. Further instructional titles are provided by authors including Keith West, Billy Showell, Paul Taggart, and Patricia Seligman. The collection includes publications from the Natural History Museum and specialised art presses. Each volume is profusely illustrated with colour plates, diagrams, and technical demonstrations. Most volumes are in quarto or large octavo formats.
Condition report:
Overall condition is good. Hardcover volumes generally retain their original dust jackets, which exhibit minor edge wear, occasional light scuffing, and some sunning to the spines. Softcover wrappers show typical signs of use including light corner creasing and rubbing to the extremities. One volume retains a contemporary retail price sticker to the front cover. Bindings remain sound and internal pages appear clean and free from significant foxing or inscriptions based on external inspection.
