Antique Hallmarked Birmingham Sterling Silver Mesh Purse by Smith and Cohen
Description
An antique hallmarked sterling silver mesh purse featuring a chainmail-style body and a shaped silver frame. The piece is fitted with a traditional twin-ball kiss-lock clasp and a matching silver chain-link handle. The interior edge of the frame bears a clear set of British hallmarks including the maker mark S & C for the silversmiths Smith and Cohen, the lion passant for sterling silver, the anchor for the Birmingham assay office, and the lowercase date letter u for 1919.
