Description
A 9 carat gold award pendant or watch fob, of traditional shield form with an applied central shield and hand-engraved foliate and scrollwork borders. The piece is fitted with a suspension loop and jump ring to the top. The reverse features a hand-engraved commemorative inscription that appears to read in part CAR… ATHLETIC… 1923. The lower reverse is struck with Birmingham hallmarks including the maker mark W.H.H for William Hair Haseler, the gold fineness stamps 9 and 375, the anchor office mark, and the date letter y for 1923.
Weight: 5.7 grams.
Condition report:
The pendant is in good vintage condition with surface wear, minor scratches, and light tarnishing consistent with its age. The hand-engraved inscription on the reverse shows signs of rubbing.
